Matt Flynn in Buffalo to work out for Bills

Matt FlynnMatt Flynn, fresh off of being demoted to third string by the Oakland Raiders and then released by the team, is in Buffalo to work out for the Bills, according to a report. The Bills could use help at quarterback after practice squad-turned-starting QB Thad Lewis got hurt on Sunday.

The Bills’ quarterback situation is shaky as a whole. Rookie starter E.J. Manuel suffered a knee injury in a loss to the Cleveland Browns two weeks ago and is likely out for at least another month. Kevin Kolb is on IR with a concussion. The team didn’t like what they saw from undrafted player Jeff Tuel when he replaced Manuel, so they signed Lewis off the practice squad and started him on Sunday. Lewis kept the Bills close with the Cincinnati Bengals, but he was in a walking boot after the game and is going for X-rays.

If the Bills are bringing in Flynn for a look like Adam Schefter and Mike Rodak report, you know they’re desperate. Then again, we knew they were desperate based on them starting Lewis and playing Tuel.

Flynn was handed the Raiders’ starting job but blew it in the preseason and the team turned to Terrelle Pryor. When Pryor missed a game with a concussion, Flynn was terrible. Even his former team, the Green Bay Packers, passed on him as a free agent, perhaps because he has an elbow issue. That would explain things, because Flynn looked great in limited work for the Packers and has been terrible otherwise.
