Detroit Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford has played through his share of injuries in recent years, but the veteran might have met his match for Week 10.
According to Ian Rapoport of NFL.com, there is real concern about Stafford’s hip and back, and he could be a true game-time decision Sunday against the Chicago Bears. Stafford has been a regular on injury reports for the last month with the back issue, but it wasn’t until now that there appeared to be any danger of missing time.
This is a big deal if only for one reason: Stafford has started 136 consecutive games dating back to 2011, the second-longest active streak among NFL quarterbacks. That’s an illustration of how much Stafford has gutted through over the years, and indicates just how significant the pain must be if he’s unable to go. After all, he reportedly played through an incredibly serious injury in 2018, even when his team was out of playoff contention.

Stafford is having what is arguably his best NFL season statistically. He’s thrown for 2,499 yards and 19 touchdowns in eight games.
