Maxx Crosby’s massive contract extension has special meaning
Maxx Crosby landed a major contract extension with the Las Vegas Raiders that has some extra significance for him.
Crosby on Friday signed a 4-year, $95 million contract extension with $53 million guaranteed. The defensive end said tweeted about the deal and said he still had “unfinished business” left with the Raiders.

Crosby, 24, was a fourth-round pick by the Raiders in 2019. He has 25 sacks in three career seasons and has not missed a game.
Landing a nearly $100 million contract is a huge deal in itself and the sign of major success. But there is more to the contract than that.
Crosby signed the contract on his two-year anniversary of becoming sober. He noted the special date of the contract extension via Twitter.

Crosby has said that alcoholism ran in his family and that he was an alcoholic. He checked into rehab for alcoholism in March 2020 and spent almost the entire offseason receiving treatment.
“It was a big struggle but looking back on my journey, I know five years, 10 years down the road, I’ll look back and be like, that was the biggest offseason of my life even though I was just trying to get my s— together and just trying to stay above water. I know if I can make it through that s— and get sober, I can do anything. It was special and I met some awesome people along the way,” Crosby said last year.
So far, he has continued to success on the field, which is paying off quite literally with his new deal.
