Former Cowboys WR Michael Gallup signing with AFC team
Michael Gallup is officially on the move.
Adam Schefter of ESPN reported Monday that the former Dallas Cowboys receiver Gallup plans to sign with the Las Vegas Raiders in free agency. It will be a one-year deal from the Raiders worth up to $3 million for Gallup.
The 28-year-old Gallup, a third-round pick in 2018, spent the first six years of his career with the Cowboys. He posted 1,106 yards receiving and six TDs during the 2019 season but saw his role in the offense steadily diminish after Dallas’ addition of CeeDee Lamb in the 2020 NFL Draft. Gallup was also set back by a torn ACL that he suffered in Week 17 of the 2021 season.
That said, Gallup still has something left to offer after catching 34 passes for 418 yards and two TDs as the No. 3 receiver for the Cowboys last year. With Hunter Renfrow looking uncertain to return as a free agent, Gallup could even end up pushing Jakobi Meyers as the WR2 behind Davante Adams in Las Vegas. This might also be a better landing spot for Gallup than the other team that he was recently linked to.
