The last time the Seattle Seahawks were in a Super Bowl, they lost by passing at the 1-yard line in the dying moments of the game. Naturally, coach Mike Macdonald had to answer a question about whether he would do the same in that situation.
The “Bussin’ With The Boys” podcast got to ask Macdonald a question at media day on Monday, and they made it a good one. They asked what Macdonald would do on 2nd and 1 at the opposing 1-yard line with 26 seconds left down by four, the exact situation Pete Carroll once found himself in.
“Is Beast Mode in the backfield?” Macdonald responded.
The boys are asking the question everyone is wondering. Will the Seahawks run the ball on the goal line in the 4th quarter?

Carroll infamously did not hand the ball to Marshawn Lynch in that situation, leading to a Russell Wilson interception. He has never lived that decision down even after 11 years.
Macdonald, of course, is highly unlikely to be placed in the same situation on Sunday. Even if he was, he would not have Lynch in the backfield, with Kenneth Walker the likely back instead. Whatever the case, it’s safe to say the Seahawks wouldn’t be calling any slant routes at that moment.
