Mike Williams made a huge play to help the Pittsburgh Steelers beat the Washington Commanders on Sunday, and it looks like the veteran wide receiver celebrated by taking a swipe at his former quarterback.
Williams caught what wound up being the game-winning touchdown during the Steelers’ 28-27 victory over the Commanders at Northwest Stadium in Landover, Md. Pittsburgh was trailing 27-21 with 2:27 remaining when Williams hauled in a perfectly thrown 32-yard pass from Russell Wilson to give his new team the lead.
On Monday, Williams shared some photos via Instagram from his big Steelers debut. One of the hashtags he used in the post was “#RedLine.”

That was likely Williams’ way of trolling Aaron Rodgers.
The Steelers acquired Williams in a trade with the New York Jets last week. Three weeks before that, Rodgers called Williams out publicly after the receiver supposedly made a huge mistake on a key play late in a Jets loss. Rodgers said Williams should have been on the “redline,” which was football lingo that referenced the route Williams was supposed to run.
For what it’s worth, Williams admitted that he made a mistake and said he spoke with Rodgers about it. You can understand why Williams might have wanted to get a friendly jab in anyway.
Williams’ catch on Sunday helped the Steelers improve to 7-2. It also came on the same day the Jets were blown out by the Arizona Cardinals and fell to 3-7. If Williams running the wrong route contributed to the Jets wanting to trade him, it might have been the best mistake he ever made.
