Mike Williams made one of the biggest plays of Week 10 in his debut with the Pittsburgh Steelers, and head coach Mike Tomlin had a great message for the veteran wide receiver afterward.
Williams caught what wound up being the game-winning touchdown pass during the Steelers’ 28-27 victory over the Washington Commanders on Sunday at Northwest Stadium in Landover, Md. Pittsburgh was trailing 27-21 with 2:27 remaining in the game when Williams hauled in a perfectly thrown 32-yard pass from Russell Wilson to give his new team the lead.
After Williams made the catch, Tomlin went over to the 30-year-old wideout and officially welcomed him to the team.
“You a Steeler now, baby. You a Steeler now. Welcome,” Tomlin said.

The Steelers sent a fifth-round pick to the New York Jets in exchange for Williams last week. Williams has become expendable in New York after the Jets traded for Davante Adams. He was also called out by Aaron Rodgers for making a big mistake at the end of a loss.
Williams has to be feeling great about the trade. He made a huge play in his first game with the Steelers to help the team improve to 7-2. The Jets, on the other hand, are 3-7 after losing six of their last seven games. Williams ended up in a great situation and looks like he has a chance to be a big contributor down the stretch.
