NFL admitted to 1 big officiating blunder in Steelers-Colts game
Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin says the NFL admitted to making one significant officiating error in his team’s loss to the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday.
Steelers safety Minkah Fitzpatrick was called for unnecessary roughness over a hit on Colts wide receiver Adonai Mitchell late in the third quarter of the Steelers’ 27-24 loss to the Colts at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Ind. Pittsburgh was trailing 17-10 at the time, and the call turned what would have been a 3rd-and-10 into a first down in Steelers’ territory. You can see the play here.
On Tuesday, Tomlin told reporters that he spoke with the NFL league offices in New York about the call on Fitzpatrick. The NFL admitted the officials got it wrong.
“I didn’t like the call, they didn’t like the call. That doesn’t help me on Monday,” Tomlin said.
Mike Tomlin said he talked to the league office on Monday about the debatable roughing penalty against Minkah Fitzpatrick in Indy. "I didn't like the call, they didn't like the call. That doesn't help me on Monday.

The Colts scored a touchdown to take a 24-10 lead on the drive where Fitzpatrick was called for unnecessary roughness. Fitzpatrick sounded off on the officials after the game.
You can understand why Tomlin and the Steelers are frustrated, as they would have had a great chance to stop the Colts and get the ball back down one score had it not been for the penalty on Fitzpatrick. The NFL admitting to the blunder probably is not much consolation.
