Report: NFL teams want David Shaw, but he is staying at Stanford

David-Shaw-StanfordStanford head coach David Shaw is receiving interest from NFL teams as more jobs start opening up, but it does not sound like he has any intention of making the jump to the professional level.

NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport reported on Monday that Shaw is “coveted” at the pro level but is not interested in either the San Francisco 49ers’ job — which is relatively close to home — or the potential opening with the Indianapolis Colts.

Shaw has experience as an offensive assistant with several NFL teams and has been very successful at Stanford.

According to NFL Media’s Mike Silver, two college coaches who are “trying hard” to make their way to the NFL are UCLA’s Jim Mora and Texas A&M’s Kevin Sumlin. It is unclear if any teams are interested. Mora is coming off a disappointing 8-5 season with the Bruins while Sumlin is losing two key players to transfers. Mora spent four seasons as a head coach in the NFL with the Atlanta Falcons and Seattle Seahawks. Sumlin has no NFL experience.
