The Baltimore Ravens are looking for a new head coach after firing John Harbaugh in a surprising move on Tuesday. Now, odds have been released regarding whom they might hire next.
Chris Shula, who is currently the defensive coordinator for the Los Angeles Rams, is the favorite for the position. Very close to him in the odds is Jesse Minter, who is the Los Angeles Chargers’ defensive coordinator and previously coached in Baltimore.
Here is a list of the odds for any coaches that are 12/1 or better, according to BetOnline.ag:
Chris Shula 3/1Jesse Minter 7/2 (+350)
Kliff Kingsbury 5/1
Brian Flores 7/1
Kevin Stefanski 7/1
Klint Kubiak 9/1
Jim Schwartz 10/1
Robert Saleh 12/1
Mike McCarthy 12/1
Kliff Kingsbury, Brian Flores, Kevin Stefanski, Jim Schwartz, Robert Saleh and Mike McCarthy all have previous experience as an NFL head coach. The rest of the coaches listed have served as coordinators. Kubiak is the current offensive coordinator for the Seahawks.
The odds suggest the Ravens are expected to go with a defensive-minded head coach, which is why Shula and Minter, who are both defensive coordinators, are listed first. Flores is also a defensive coordinator, though Kingsbury, Stefanski and Kubiak have offensive backgrounds.
The Ravens still have a window of success open as long as they have Lamar Jackson at quarterback, though who knows how long that will be the case. They need to capitalize.
