Odell Beckham cites different treatment from NFL behind Marlon Humphrey restraint
Odell Beckham Jr.’s well-publicized tangle with Marlon Humphrey of the Baltimore Ravens has gotten a lot of talk, but no real consequences for Beckham. He knows there was certainly a time when that may have been different.
Beckham admitted that he’s come a long way in his maturity and was worried about hurting his teammates by retaliating against Humphrey, who appeared to grab the wide receiver by the throat. He also suggested that he feared he would’ve gotten a harsh punishment, even a suspension, “knowing how I get treated.”

Beckham was certainly upset by some aspects of the confrontation, but he did more or less keep his cool. Credit to him for that. He was smart and controlled and deserves plaudits. His belief that the league treats him unfairly sometimes — one he’s stated before — may or may not be right, but if it inspires him to avoid retaliating in spots like this, it’s probably not all bad.
