Odell Beckham Jr. was not at organized team activities with the New York Giants on Tuesday, but head coach Pat Shurmur says the absence was expected. Beckham still has not been fully cleared by doctors to practice, but that clearance should come in the near future.
Shurmur told reporters that Beckham, who broke his ankle last October and underwent surgery, is “pretty close” to being declared 100 percent healthy.
Pat Shurmur said he knew Odell Beckham wouldn’t be here today. Said he’s still not fully cleared, but is “pretty close.”

How close it Odell Beckham Jr. to being cleared? "Pretty close," coach Pat Shurmur said. Beckham broke his ankle in October.

Shurmur recently said that the Giants have been holding Beckham back during workouts, so the star receiver sounds like he is itching to get medical clearance.
Beckham is entering the final year of his rookie contract, and he has been open about wanting a long-term contract extension. However, everything he has done to this point in the offseason indicates he wants to keep the negotiations peaceful. If he still doesn’t have a new deal later in the offseason, that could change.
