Patrick Mahomes makes guarantee about next year’s Super Bowl
Patrick Mahomes is already thinking ahead to playing in the Super Bowl again, and how he plans to go about winning it.
In an appearance on “Impaulsive” with Logan Paul, Mahomes discussed Kansas City’s use of the “Corndog” play, which the Chiefs used to beat the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl LVIII. The Chiefs used the same play one year earlier against the Philadelphia Eagles on a touchdown pass from Mahomes to Kadarius Toney.
Mahomes loves the play so much, he essentially promised to break it out again in a third straight Super Bowl.

“That play was freaking sweet, man,” Mahomes said on the Impaulsive podcast. “It was not supposed to go to the guy who caught the touchdown. We ran the ‘Corndog’ once against the Eagles. It was a touchdown. Won the game. Then, we were going to run a fake version of that and then do a little shovel pass, and it was wide open again.
“Next year in New Orleans, we’re going to do it again. Put it on the table, we’re going to do it again. I’m telling you now.”
Presumably, the Chiefs would run a variant of the play, much like the most recent one was meant to be. Still, it’s obvious that Mahomes is really fond of the play.
Mahomes is not saying it outright, but his promise implies that he and the Chiefs will be playing in Super Bowl LIX next year, which is being held in New Orleans. To be fair, he has plenty of reasons to be confident about that. He is not going to guarantee a three-peat, but he certainly sounds confident that the Chiefs might be able to pull it off.
