Patriots to sign kicker Nick Folk after cutting Mike Nugent
The New England Patriots have hit the kicker streets once again and will see if their latest free agent pickup works out.
The Patriots are signing Nick Folk, NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport reported on Tuesday.
Folk, 34, was a sixth-round pick by the Dallas Cowboys in 2007 and kicked for them for three years. He then kicked seven seasons for the Jets and spent 2017 with the Bucs. Folk kicked for the Arizona team in the AAF earlier this year. He is an 80.3 percent career kicker on field goals.
New England needed a new kicker after Stephen Gostkowski went on IR with a hip injury following Week 4. They originally signed Mike Nugent but cut him this week after he went 5/8 on field goals and 15/16 on extra points.
