Ravens add son of ex-Super Bowl champion to training camp roster
The Baltimore Ravens are throwing it back and giving the son of one of their former Super Bowl champions a chance to compete for a roster spot in training camp.
Qadir Ismail, the son of former Ravens Super Bowl winner Qadry Ismail, was added to the team’s 90-man roster on Monday, the team confirmed. The younger Ismail had previously received a rookie tryout with the Ravens last month.
An undrafted free agent, Ismail played collegiately at Villanova. Originally a quarterback, he became a wide receiver, and tallied 16 catches for 156 yards over two seasons there. The Ravens are taking a flier on his physical skills, as he stands 6-foot-6 and has a clear size advantage.
Ismail’s father Qadry played three years with the Ravens, tallying two 1,000-yard campaigns and winning Super Bowl XXXV with the team.
