A disappointing season got even worse for the Dallas Cowboys with a blowout loss to the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday, but Rex Ryan has had enough of people pointing the finger at Mike McCarthy.
The Cowboys fell to 3-6 with their 34-6 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. After the game, star pass-rusher Micah Parsons was asked about McCarthy being in the final year of his contract with the team. Parsons said he feels more badly for older Cowboys players who are grinding through a wasted season than he does for the head coach.
Parsons also said he is more concerned about veteran players who have “put in more time and more work than Mike McCarthy ever did.” The All-Pro linebacker’s comments probably did not come out the way he intended, but you can hear them for yourself here.
During Monday morning’s edition of “Get Up” on ESPN, Ryan unloaded on Parsons. The former coach called Parsons’ remarks “bulls–” and did not censor himself.
“No coach deserves that because trust me, my friend, the hours this guy’s putting in, no player is putting in the work that a head coach is, I can assure you,” Ryan said. “Look, you can have some private issue. Go to the owner, go to whoever, go to Mike McCarthy, but why the hell do you think that you need to say that? Why do you need to hurt this man? Who do you think gets blamed for everything? He gets it anyway, and so why are you piling on? Alright, yeah, dead man walking, yeah he is. But you know what? He’s professional as hell. He hasn’t once blamed a damn player ever, and it’s bulls–.”

Fellow ESPN analyst Damien Woody also blasted Parsons and criticized him for being one of the “podcast boys” who spout off too much.
“All of y’all got your a–es kicked,” Woody said. “And you gonna go out here and talk about your head coach, basically your head coach not working, not doing their thing to try to prepare the team? I just think it’s a bunch of BS, man. … That’s disrespectful what Micah Parsons did to Mike McCarthy in that situation.”

Bro, you've been missing all these games with the injury… that's what's going on with all these podcast boys out here in the locker room." pic.twitter.com/WRQZrQanc7

McCarthy entered the year as a lame duck, so it is no secret that he is coaching for his job. There’s a chance Jerry Jones could decide to bring McCarthy back since Dak Prescott’s injury has further derailed the Cowboys’ season, but the team was underperforming prior to that.
Parsons may not have intended to criticize McCarthy the way he did, but the remarks are probably a good indicator of how he and other players feel toward their coach.
