Richard Sherman: People have a ‘skewed view’ of Tom Brady

Tom-Brady-Richard-Sherman-U-mad

Richard Sherman has faced Tom Brady just once in his career, but that was enough for him to create a memory with the New England Patriots quarterback that will last a lifetime.

When the Seattle Seahawks faced the Patriots during the 2012 season, “You mad, bro?” as we currently know it was born. After Seattle’s 24-23 victory, Sherman confronted Brady on the field. According to Sherman, he was simply finishing the trash talk that Brady started.

“He was pretty much saying that we were nobodies,” Sherman explained Wednesday, via Terry Blount of ESPN.com. “And we should come up to him after they got the win. He said stuff like that throughout the game. So we should just take that pretty well? Sure, can I get your autograph, too?”

Believe it or not, Brady is known for being a pretty big trash talker on the field. Sherman noted that Brady’s magazine-model image can often be misleading.

“I think people somehow get a skewed view of Tom Brady,” he added. “That he’s just a clean-cut guy that does everything right and never says a bad word to anyone. We know him to be otherwise.

“In that moment of him being himself, he said some things and we returned the favor. Unfortunately, he apparently didn’t remember what he said. I’m sure also in those moments when he’s yelling at the ref, he’s just saying, ‘Good job. You’re doing a fantastic job. Keep it up.'”

Brady carries himself a certain way with the media and a certain way on the field. If you don’t believe it, just ask Jerod Mayo what Brady did to his tooth one time. We’re not surprised he talked trash to Sherman, just as we’re not surprised Sherman got the best of him. Round 2 should be equally entertaining, assuming the fallout from Deflategate doesn’t have a major impact on the Super Bowl.
