Saquon Barkley could play Sunday against Vikings?
Saquon Barkley was initially expected to miss around six or eight games after he suffered a high-ankle sprain in Week 3, but apparently it is not out of the question that the New York Giants star could return on Sunday.
Giants head coach Pat Shurmur has told reporters this week that the team is going to be smart with Barkley, but he won’t rule out the running back suiting up against the Minnesota Vikings.
Shurmur said they're going to bring Saquon back "as quickly and as smartly as possible." He reiterates that a return on Sunday is possible.

If Barkley’s ankle injury truly is a high-ankle sprain, that would be remarkable. Players who suffer sprains of that nature almost always miss at least a few games, and Barkley is less than two weeks removed from the injury. We knew he was ahead of schedule after seeing the way he was running and cutting at practice on Wednesday, but it would still be a surprise if he didn’t sit out at least one more game.
Barkley said after the Giants’ 24-3 win over the Washington Redskins on Sunday that he is already out of his walking boot, which is yet another positive sign. He has also been telling people he can beat the timetable for his return, and it would be unwise to doubt him at this point.
