The Pittsburgh Steelers are putting together a very active trade deadline day by making a move to address their defense.
The Steelers acquired edge rusher Preston Smith from the Green Bay Packers, according to multiple reports. ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that the Steelers are giving up a seventh-round draft pick to land Smith.

This is something of a defensive depth move for Pittsburgh, but a very good one. The 31-year-old Smith has collected eight sacks or more in each of the last three seasons, and ends his Packers career with 44 sacks over five-plus seasons. He has 2.5 sacks so far in this campaign.
This marks the second trade the Steelers made on deadline day. They are clearly serious about making a playoff run and win their first postseason game since the 2016 season.
