Stephen Tulloch would do ACL-tearing sack celebration again

Stephen-Tulloch-celebration-injuryLast weekend, Stephen Tulloch of the Detroit Lions tore his ACL celebrating a sack of Aaron Rodgers. As a result, Tulloch was placed on injured reserve, bringing his 2014 season to an end.

Understandably, Tulloch was criticized for perhaps going a bit overboard with his attempt to mock Rodgers’ well known “discount double-check” belt celebration. He’ll miss his first game in nine seasons this weekend due to the injury.

That doesn’t mean the veteran wouldn’t do it again, if given the opportunity. At an event on Friday to benefit his foundation, Tulloch reiterated something like that can happen at anytime.

“Hell, no,” Tulloch told the Detroit Free Press. “I’d do it again, brother. You do it every time. If it’s going to happen, it’s going to happen. Just a matter of time.”

“Don’t feel sorry for me,” Tulloch said. “I feel good. It’s just unfortunate the injury is what it is and like I said I’m upbeat and positive about it and I’ll be back better than before.”

It’s pretty amazing to think Stephen Tulloch had participated in 131 straight games (and all of the snaps the come with them) only to have a sack celebration be the cause of a season-ending injury. However, as he said, if it’s going to happen, it’s going to happen. Unfortunately for Tulloch and the Lions, it became reality.
