Report: Steve Smith hopes to play in 2016
Steve Smith is reportedly planning on putting retirement on hold for one more season.
Smith, who suffered a torn Achilles in November, is out of a walking boot, and if he can play with his usual explosiveness following the injury, he intends to return for another year, according to NFL.com’s Ian Rapoport.
There’s no guarantee Smith’s body will allow him to do the same things he’s been able to in the past, but he’s rehabbing with the hope that it will.
Smith had originally intended to retire after the season, but those close to him doubted it in the first place, and the injury he suffered seems to have steeled his resolve to return for one more year. He’s still under contract with Baltimore for another season.
