Teryl Austin reportedly agrees to become Bengals defensive coordinator
The Cincinnati Bengals have decided to keep Marvin Lewis heading into the 2018 season, and the head coach has already made one big addition to his staff.
ESPN’s Josina Anderson reports that Teryl Austin, who has been the defensive coordinator with the Detroit Lions since 2014, has agreed to take the same position with the Bengals.
I'm told Teryl Austin is going to accept the #Bengals offer to become their defensive coordinator, per source.

The Bengals’ DC job became vacant with Paul Guenther set to join the Oakland Raiders and Jon Gruden’s staff, so Lewis obviously wanted to move quickly to snatch up Austin. The 52-year-old had the Lions ranked No. 3 in the NFL in points allowed in 2014, but Detroit’s defense had fallen to 21st in scoring this season and 27th in yards allowed.
