The best Christmas gift videos of 2019 from the sports world
Christmas is a great time of year for many reasons, and one of our favorites is seeing the joy sports-related gifts can bring to fans across the world. We saw plenty of fresh examples of that in 2019.
From athletes surprising their family members with houses to diehard fans scoring tickets to the big game, here are some of the best sports-related Christmas gift videos from this holiday season:
49ers fan scores some swag and tickets
This San Francisco 49ers fan seemed like he would have been happy enough with his fresh new George Kittle jersey, but that wasn’t nearly the best part of his Christmas gift. Underneath the jersey were tickets to the Niners’ regular-season finale against their division rival Seattle Seahawks.

Christmas can’t get much better than that.
Steven Souza Jr. surprises his dad with a brand new truck
Steven Souza Jr. hasn’t made nearly as much in his MLB career as some other professional baseball players, but the $10 million he has pocketed was enough to allow him to buy his father a brand new Ford pickup for Christmas. Souza said his dad is a hard-working guy who always supported Steve’s love for baseball.
My dad was a simple mechanic at Boeing who didn’t have much but he spent his time driving me two hours to practice, taking me to the batting cage, feeding machines, hitting ground balls, etc. He fixes anything at any of our houses that’s broken at the drop of a hat. Souza Jr. likely feels he can never repay his dad for all he has done for him, but that shiny new truck is certainly a start.
Pro boxer Regis Prograis buys his mother a house
Regis Prograis suffered the first loss of his career and lost his WBA light welterweight title back in October, but he didn’t let that spoil the end of his year. The 30-year-old New Orleans native decided to surprise his mother with one of the biggest gifts you can give when he bought her a house for Christmas.

Just bought my momma a brand new house from the ground up. She had no idea what kind of Christmas gift she was getting. We made her go through a few loops but she finally got her key. pic.twitter.com/ZWExsbF04V

They say a home is the most important purchase of a person’s life, so you can imagine what it must feel like when someone else makes that purchase for you. Nicely done, Regis.
Young Giants fan overwhelmed after receiving Saquon Barkley jersey
Ah, the old “NFL jersey wrapped in a boring clothes box” trick. Getting a Saquon Barkley jersey would be exciting enough for a young Giants fan, but it’s even better when you think you’re getting something lame from Croft & Barrow only to find out you’ll now be repping your favorite player in style.

Whatever came in that box originally, we doubt it had more significance.
Matthew Stafford surprises young Lions fans who needed a boost
Matthew Stafford and his wife Kelly chose the perfect recipients for their annual “The Stafford Christmas Gift.” When Conor Krause died unexpectedly in September 2019, he left his wife and three young boys devastated. Conor and his sons were big Lions fans, so Heather’s friend, Jenny, wrote a letter to Kelly Stafford, sharing the family’s story. This year, the Staffords chose to make the Krause family the recipients of the annual gift.
Last week, the Staffords showed up at the Krause’s home and completely surprised the boys with a visit and gifts. The reaction from the family was priceless:
The Staffords had a tough 2019 themselves, as Kelly underwent brain surgery earlier in the year and Matthew was recently placed on injured reserve with a painful back injury. You have to admire their commitment to helping other families.
All in all, Christmas 2019 was another great one.
