Todd Gurley wants NFL to end international games

Todd Gurley

The NFL remains dedicated to staging games in cities across the world in an effort to grow interest in their product, but Los Angeles Rams running back Todd Gurley is one player who is not a fan of the approach.

Gurley has a particular problem with the travel involved in playing internationally, as his Rams had to spend nearly a week practicing in Florida before traveling to London on Thursday ahead of their game against the Arizona Cardinals.

“Terrible,” Gurley said of the scheduling, via Alden Gonzalez of ESPN. “They need to stop this, all this stuff. This London, this Mexico City stuff, it needs to stop.

“It’s cool playing over there, don’t get me wrong. Just more of the long week, messes up a bunch of people’s schedules. I’m pretty sure y’all [the media] wanna be in y’all bed right now, too. But naw, it’s all good. It’ll be love. The fans over there are great.”

The bad news for Gurley is that the NFL wants to play more games overseas, and has even talked of putting a franchise in London full-time. We’re guessing Gurley isn’t the only player who isn’t enamored with the logistics that involve playing overseas, which is likely the biggest hindrance to that plan.
