Tom Brady skipped White House visit to spend time with mother Galynn

New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady on Monday revealed the reason he did not join his teammates at the White House last month, and it was the one many had already suspected.

While speaking with AJ Calloway of “Extra” at the 2017 Met Gala in New York City, Brady said he chose to spend time with his family — particularly his mother Galynn — rather that going to Washington, D.C.

“Spending time with my mom, that’s pretty important to me,” Brady said. “It’s been a great year, but it’s even better to spend time with my parents, my kids.”

Brady backed out of going to visit his buddy Donald Trump at the last second, only citing “personal family matters” as the reason. Many assumed that had something to do with his mother, who had a very difficult year as she battles cancer. The Super Bowl was actually the first game of the season Galynn Brady was able to attend, and her presence clearly meant a lot to Tom and the rest of the Patriots organization.

An Instagram post Brady shared the day the Patriots visited the White House shed more light on why he chose not to attend. Even if part of him did want to skip the D.C. trip so he wouldn’t have to answer questions about his relationship with Trump, it’s hard to argue with Brady wanting to spend time with his family after the tough year his mother had.
