It probably won’t come as much solace to Dallas Cowboys fans, but Tony Romo’s back injury apparently could have been much worse.
According to a report by Albert Breer of The MMQB on Monday, Romo avoided ligament damage in his back and could resume training in as soon as three weeks.
One area where Cowboys and Tony Romo dodged a bullet — No ligament damage in Romo's back, I'm told. Should be training again in 3-6 weeks.

The four-time Pro Bowler suffered a broken bone in his back on a hit from defensive end Cliff Avril during Thursday night’s preseason loss to the Seattle Seahawks (video here). He was given a recovery timetable of 6-10 weeks.
This latest report seems to suggest that Romo might be able to return on the earlier end of that estimate. But the 36-year-old will still need time to work his way into proper playing condition after resuming training, so it looks like it will be The Dak Prescott Show for Dallas until at least mid-to-late October.
