Tony Romo unlikely to return until Week 9?

Tony Romo Cowboys

We may still be about three weeks away from Tony Romo’s return from injury.

According to ESPN’s Todd Archer, a Week 8 return for Romo is likely optimistic, considering he would only have four days of practice time to prepare for the team’s opponent, the Philadelphia Eagles.

More realistic is a return on Nov. 6 against the Cleveland Browns, which would allow Romo more time to prepare for an inferior opponent.

Archer notes that the success of Dak Prescott will make it easier for the Cowboys to take their time easing Romo back into things.

Dallas originally targeted the Philadelphia game for a Romo return coming off a bye week, the earliest he possibly could do so given his status on injured reserve. Prescott’s play has likely diminished whatever sense of urgency is involved there.
