Trevor Siemian to start for Broncos in second preseason game
Trevor Siemian will start at quarterback for the Denver Broncos in the team’s preseason game on Saturday, head coach Gary Kubiak announced Thursday.
The word from camp all along has been that Siemian has a chance to win the Broncos’ starting quarterback job. He and offseason acquisition Mark Sanchez have been splitting first-team reps during camp.
Sanchez got the first crack at the starting job when he started the first preseason game. Sanchez went 10-for-13 for 99 yards, a touchdown and an interception in the first preseason game. Siemian was 7-of-12 for 88 yards. Rookie Paxton Lynch also played well in the game, but he’s well behind his competitors on the depth chart.
Sanchez and Siemian are both expected to get about a quarter and a half of action against the 49ers Saturday.
