Trevor Siemian to start Broncos’ third preseason game
Trevor Siemian will start the Denver Broncos’ third preseason game, head coach Gary Kubiak announced on Monday.
Siemian is competing with Mark Sanchez and rookie Paxton Lynch for the starting job. Both Siemian and Sanchez got starts in the team’s first two preseason games, but neither separated himself. However, Sanchez had a stretch during the second preseason game where he committed two turnovers, which may have put Siemian in the lead.
Teams typically give their starters the greatest amount of playing time in the third preseason game. Those are typically treated as “dress rehearsals,” which makes it seem like Siemian is in the lead for the job.
Our guess is the Broncos are really hoping Lynch continues to develop so they can have him start most of the season.
