Report: Video could vindicate Johnny Manziel, show Colleen Crowley hit him

Johnny Manziel Colleen Crowley

A Dallas grand jury reviewed evidence on Thursday in the assault case against Johnny Manziel, and a video that was shown during the hearings could reportedly help vindicate the free agent quarterback.

According to CBS Dallas-Fort Worth, security footage from the hotel where Manziel and his ex-girlfriend, Colleen Crowley, were hanging out on the night of Jan. 30 suggests that Crowley was attacking Manziel — not the other way around. However, police records state that Manziel is accused of hitting Crowley later when the two were driving from a Dallas bar back to her home.

Crowley claims Manziel threatened to kill her and dragged her back into a car after she tried to jump out while it was moving. She reportedly told the valet at Hotel ZaZa that she feared for her life before the two left the hotel together. You can read more details of Crowley’s accusations against Manziel here.

Mike Fisher of 105.3 The Fan in Dallas reports that the law enforcement side does not feel confident it will win its case against Manziel.

As we know, the assault investigation is one of many, many problems Manziel has at the moment. He also could end up facing a lawsuit for allegedly trashing an L.A. rental house in a drug-fueled party with friends.

Manziel said through a spokesperson earlier this week that he is unsure if he wants to play football in 2016. The 23-year-old was dropped by his biggest sponsor that same day.
