Video: Jimmy Johnson becomes latest to be surprised by Hall of Fame induction news

A neat subplot of the NFL’s Divisional Weekend has been the Pro Football Hall of Fame using network halftime shows to surprise new Hall of Famers.

On Sunday, it was former Dallas Cowboys coach Jimmy Johnson’s turn. Hall of Fame president David Baker made his way onto the FOX set at halftime of the Seahawks-Packers game to welcome Johnson into the Hall of Fame on live television, an announcement that made Johnson quite emotional.

Johnson’s former quarterback Troy Aikman was also moved by the announcement as he watched from the booth in Green Bay.

Johnson even struggled to speak afterward as he tried to maintain his composure. It was similar to what Bill Cowher did when the former Steelers coach got the same treatment on CBS Saturday, and it’s easy to understand why.

Johnson went 80-64 as a head coach, including a 44-36 record with the Cowboys from 1989-1993. He went 7-1 in the playoffs, winning back-to-back Super Bowls in his final two seasons with Dallas.
