Bill Cowher received one heck of a surprise during Saturday night’s pregame show on CBS.
Hall of Fame president David Baker showed up on CBS’ TV set and surprised Cowher with the news that the former Pittsburgh Steelers head coach would be inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame as one of two coaches in the 2020 class. Cowher was emotional upon hearing the news:
The newest member of the @ProFootballHOF: Bill Cowher.

Cowher’s wife and daughter were also there on the set to congratulate him and experience the moment. The former coach gave a brief speech of gratitude and put things in perspective by saying he was just hoping to avoid being fired before his 20th high school reunion.
Now 62, Cowher coached the Steelers from 1992-2006. He led Pittsburgh to eight division titles, 10 postseason appearances, and one Super Bowl win. He has been a studio personality for CBS since retiring after the 2006 season.
