The Minnesota Vikings made the controversial decision to sign wide receiver Michael Floyd on Wednesday, and the team was prepared for any outcry.
Vikings general manager Rick Spielman released a statement along with the team’s official announcement, stating that he and coach Mike Zimmer were confident that Floyd had learned from his off-field mistakes.

Floyd has pleaded guilty to extreme DUI stemming from an arrest last December. He has 24 touchdown receptions and has accumulated 3,781 receiving yards in his five NFL seasons, and he’ll be hoping for a fresh start with Minnesota.
