Vontaze Burfict blasts ‘b-tch’ Roger Goodell in wild interview
Vontaze Burfict’s season is already over due to a suspension for repeated helmet-to-helmet hits this season, and with the way he talked in a recent interview, he may have killed off whatever was left of his career.
Burfict spoke with The Athletic’s Vic Tafur for an interview that was published on Friday. In the interview, Burfict tried to distance himself from the actions of Myles Garrett on Thursday night. Burfict’s name came up because people referenced him when talking about the length of suspension Garrett might receive, and also because Burfict is the first name that comes to mind for many when thinking of “dirty” football players.
In the interview, Burfict tried to distinguish himself from Garrett by saying his infractions are football plays, whereas Garrett’s was not. Burfict said the NFL’s suspension of him was wrong and believes his meeting with Commissioner Roger Goodell was “bulls–.” He also called the commissioner a b-tch.
“I met (commissioner) Roger Goodell in New York and he was a total b-tch,” Burfict told Tafur. “He was a b-tch. He didn’t let anybody speak, he rushed us in and out of the meeting. The meeting was bulls–t. He already had the suspension in his hand.”
Burfict complained that the league had its mind made up and didn’t want to hear any defense from the linebacker, which included phone calls from Derek Carr and Jon Gruden, as well as videos showing his clean plays and lack of retaliation. The league didn’t care, according to him.
Burfict may share his sob story, but any reasonable football fan cannot possibly have any sympathy for the linebacker. Burfict IS the dirtiest player in the league. His reputation is deserved and was earned with numerous dirty plays and/or illegal hits over the years. Players have said Burfict should be kicked out of the league for repeatedly endangering his fellow players with dirty hits.
If the league didn’t want to hear Burfict’s story, it’s for good reason. And Burfict may have just closed the door on the rest of his teetering career by calling the league’s commissioner a total b-tch.
