Report reveals ridiculous lengths Commanders are going to for QB trade

The Washington Commanders are going to trade for a quarterback this offseason. That is almost a guarantee. They’ve admitted as much publicly, and a new report about how enormous the team’s search has become only adds more weight to that notion.

In an article outlining Washington’s potential quarterback options, ESPN’s John Keim reported that the Commanders drew up an initial list of 42 quarterbacks to target. More remarkably, the Commanders have reportedly reached out to every other NFL team to gauge the availability and potential cost of quarterbacks.

On one hand, you can’t blame the Commanders for doing their due diligence. On the other hand, it’s amusing to think of how some of those calls must have gone. After all, there are plenty of teams that have entrenched star quarterbacks and backups that nobody would really view as a starter. Did they ask the Chiefs about Patrick Mahomes or the Rams about Matthew Stafford? The thought of that is pretty funny.

That does mean Washington has called about big names such as Russell Wilson and even Aaron Rodgers. Wilson, at least, has responded to that chatter, but he’s definitely not the only name on the Commanders’ list.
