It has been nearly three years since Jim Furyk shot a 59 at the BMW Championship to tie a PGA Tour record for lowest score in a single round. At the time, Furyk became just the sixth golfer in history to accomplish the incredible feat.
He bested himself on Sunday.
Furyk shot a 58 in the final round of the Travelers Championship in Hartford. Here’s the putt that secured the record:

History!

It's the lowest round in PGA TOUR history.

Believe it or not, Furyk could have shot 57 if he hit the putt right before that. He was able to comfortably two-putt his way to the record.
When you think of all the dominant golfers who played on the Tour for so long (Jack Nicklaus, Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson, etc.), it’s truly incredibly that Furyk, at age 46, became the first ever to shoot 58. Then again, would we expect anything less from a guy who handles earthquakes like this? Congrats to the veteran.
