Rory McIlroy trolled by ‘Sweet Caroline’ song, laughs it off (Video)

Some cheeky stadium operators at a rugby match in Ireland on Friday did their best to rattle Rory McIlroy, but the
world No. 1 golfer showed an impressive ability to shake off the troll job.

McIlroy is a fan of Ulster, one of the four pro rugby teams in Ireland, and attended the team’s game against Connacht Friday. While the golfer was conducting an interview at halftime with BBC, the stadium operators played Neil Diamond’s “Sweet Caroline” over the sound system.

McIlroy was in the middle of talking when he noticed what was going on. He gave a few laughs, then said, “oh dear,” as he shook his head with a smile on his face.

The song, of course, is a reference to McIlroy’s former fiancee, tennis player Caroline Wozniacki. The two dated for a few years and were planning a wedding until McIlroy balked after the invitations were sent out in May. He broke up with her over a phone. The nature of the breakup was such a shock to Wozniacki she said she thought it was a joke. Since then, McIlroy has been seen with several different women, while Woz is dating a football player.
