17-year-old Karmelo Anthony reportedly admitted to stabbing Austin Metcalf in a move that turned out to be fatal.
Metcalf died on Wednesday after being stabbed in the heart during an altercation with Anthony at Kuykendall Stadium in Frisco, Texas. The two boys were at the stadium for the District 11-5A Championship track meet, which ended up being canceled due to the fatal stabbing.
According to a police affidavit, witnesses said that Anthony and Metcalf got into a dispute over where Anthony was sitting. Anthony was apparently sitting under the tent for Frisco Memorial, which was Metcalf’s school, rather than under the tent for Frisco Centennial, which is Anthony’s school.

The police affidavit says Metcalf told Anthony to move. In response, Anthony reportedly said to Metcalf, “Touch me and see what happens.”
Metcalf reportedly then touched Anthony. Anthony reportedly then told Metcalf to punch him and see what would happen.
After Metcalf grabbed Anthony, Anthony then pulled out a knife and stabbed Metcalf in the heart. Metcalf died at the scene, while Anthony ran away and left the knife in the bleachers. The knife was later recovered.
Anthony reportedly told an arresting officer that he was protecting himself, before even being questioned about the incident.
When another officer approached the arresting officer, the arresting officer told the second officer he had the alleged suspect. Anthony reportedly said in response, “I’m not alleged, I did it.”
At that time, Anthony did not know that Metcalf died from the stabbing. He was asking if Metcalf would be OK and tried to claim he was acting in self-defense. That’s the same thing Anthony’s father had said.
Anthony is being held in the Collin County Jail on $1,000,000 bond.
