Adrian Dater fired by Denver Post, says he has substance abuse problems
The Denver Post fired hockey writer Adrian Dater on Wednesday, a few days after some of his improper social media conduct was exposed.
Some of Dater’s improper social media behavior included asking a woman for nude photos via Twitter’s direct messaging, and telling another woman she was not worth arguing hockey over because she is a female. He was exposed by Deadspin in the same article about another hockey writer who was fired for his creepy social media behavior.
Dater wrote for the Post since 1991 and was a longtime Avalanche writer. He is known for being a hothead and controversial writer; two months ago the Post suspended him from Twitter after he had a meltdown.
Dater confirmed his firing in an introspective Facebook post where he admitted he has substance abuse problems and is battling depression.

Dater also deleted his Twitter account.
