Sidney Crosby made Arturs Silovs’ pain a little more bearable following the Pittsburgh Penguins’ 1-0 loss to the Philadelphia Flyers in Game 6 of their series on Wednesday.
The overtime defeat at Xfinity Mobile Arena in Philadelphia, Pa., eliminated the Penguins from the 2026 NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs. After Silovs gave up the OT goal to Flyers defenseman Cam York, Crosby immediately went to the netminder to console him.
Here’s a video of that moment.
Sidney Crosby’s first reaction was to go to Arturs Silovs.

The 38-year-old Crosby’s gesture toward Silovs was noticed by fans, who praised the Penguins captain for it. Crosby could have simply skated aimlessly on the ice after York’s goal, but his first instinct was to be there for his goalie.
Sidney Crosby is the consummate class act.

Silovs had one of the best performances ever by a @penguins goalie in the playoff and truly deserved a much better fate.
So very proud of our @penguins
Crosby might be a better person than he is a player – that is saying something. What a champion!

That’s what a true captain and leader does. We have been so blessed to have him.

Silovs surely deserved the respect he got from Crosby. He kept Pittsburgh afloat for most of the contest, as Crosby and the Penguins’ attack couldn’t muster a goal.
Silovs and his Flyers counterpart, Dan Vladar, had an incredible goalie duel in Game 6, with the latter taking home the goalie win. The Latvian Silov stopped 31 of Philadelphia’s 32 shots on goal, while Vladar turned away all of the Penguins’ 42 shots.
If not for Silovs’ brilliance between the pipes, the game probably wouldn’t have gone to overtime, where York converted on a long wrist shot that the Pens goaltender didn’t see coming.
