Justin Trudeau sends 11-word message after Canada beats US

Canada prime minister Justin Trudeau sent a strong message after his country beat the US in the 4 Nations Face-Off championship on Thursday night in Boston.

Canada beat the US 3-2 in overtime to win the first year of the event on Connor McDavid’s golden goal. The event was just an exhibition, but the players were completely invested, and the level of competition was extremely high. The charged political climate contributed to the intensity level of the games being elevated. Canadians booed the US national anthem, while American fans returned the favor on Thursday.

Both Trudeau and US President Donald Trump were at the center of the battle, and Trudeau got to send a final message after his country prevailed.

“You can’t take our country — and you can’t take our game,” Trudeau’s X account posted.

You can’t take our country — and you can’t take our game.

The victory likely was extra sweet for Trudeau and Canadians, especially after the country lost in the round robin game against the US. They had to endure a lot of trash talk, including from President Trump, who has taunted Canada as the 51st state.
