We’ve seen plenty of broadcasting screw ups here at LBS, but I don’t recall a major network getting such a major event this wrong. During a commercial that played the day before the Stanley Cup Finals aired on NBC, the teams were incorrectly shown as the Canucks and Lightning:
It’s one thing for a broadcaster to fall asleep on air, but it’s quite another for the network broadcasting the Cup Finals to screw up this badly. Greg Gumbel calling his CBS network ESPN during March Madness thinks this was embarrassing. Yeesh.
