Mike Francesa reportedly desperate to return to New York sports radio

Mike Francesa

Mike Francesa is not finding retirement enjoyable, it would seem.

According to Andrew Marchand of the New York Post, Francesa “desperately misses” his radio job and is seeking a potential avenue to get back on the air.

Francesa, who officially retired from WFAN last December, has reportedly had discussions with competitors 98.7 ESPN New York and WOR 710 AM, and he may even return to WFAN in some role. He has tried to sell ESPN on broadcasting a Sunday morning NFL show, and he has held brief talks with WFAN after morning host Craig Carton departed the station amid an FBI investigation. Francesa wanted more money, and nothing came of it.

WFAN has definitely missed Francesa’s presence, as the ratings in his former time slot have declined since his retirement. We can look forward to more moments like this if he does return to the air somewhere.
