Molly Qerim has left ESPN and has already hinted that she has something new lined up.
Qerim, 41, has been the host of “First Take” on ESPN since 2015, but she resigned from the show this week. Her resignation came earlier than expected as ESPN was not expecting to have her back after the end of the year.
After the news came out that Qerim was set to leave ESPN, she addressed matters with a statement posted to Instagram.
“To my First Take family,
“After much reflection, I’ve decided it’s time to close this incredible chapter and step away from First Take. Hosting this show has been one of the greatest honors of my career. Every morning, I had the privilege of sharing the desk with some of the most brilliant, passionate, and entertaining voices in sports– and with all of you, the best fans in the world.
“I’m so grateful for what this journey has given me: lifelong friendships, unforgettable memories, and the chance to be part of something truly special.
“From the bottom of my heart, thank you for welcoming me into your homes,” Qerim wrote.
Then came the part that hinted at her new job.
“Stay tuned,” she wrote, adding a smiling emoji face.
Qerim likely would not have left her job at ESPN earlier than needed, or teased a new job, if she didn’t have something lined up. As she said, we will have to “stay tuned” to see what is next. But it seems something is imminent.
