Raja Jackson, the son of MMA legend Rampage Jackson, is now facing a felony charge over the beatdown he unleashed on Syko Stu at a wrestling event last month.
At an Aug. 23 event for KnokX Pro Wrestling in Sun Valley, Calif., Rampage’s son Raja pummeled a wrestler who goes by the stage name Syko Stu in what appeared to be be a stunt gone wrong. Stu, whose real name is Stuart Smith, first hit Raja over the side of head with a drink can during a backstage incident that looked staged.
Raja seemed legitimately bothered by the act and later entered the ring during a match involving Syko Stu. He body-slammed Stu and then beat up the wrestler with multiple punches until Stu was bloodied and appeared to be unconscious.
Jackson was arrested on Thursday and booked on a felony charge of battery with serious bodily injury, according to TMZ. The 25-year-old has been released after posting $50,000 bond.
Los Angeles Police Department officers were called to the KnokX event on Aug. 23 and took a report, though it is unclear if they spoke with Jackson. One video appeared to show Jackson angrily fleeing the scene following his beatdown of Smith. Officials have since decided to proceed with a felony charge.
Smith was hospitalized for several days with serious injuries following the attack from Jackson.
Rampage Jackson has said he believes his son took things too far against Smith, though he did make an accusation against the wrestler.
