Randy Couture was in Mexico filming a movie over the weekend when he found himself having to play the role of hero, but not on screen.
Couture told TMZ that he rescued several people who were trapped inside a car that had flipped over while driving in Cancun. He said he was on his way to his hotel after filming some scenes for the movie “Bruja.”
“I looked up and this minivan went off the road,” Couture explained. “It rolled over twice into the jungle. My driver pulled over and called the police. We busted into the woods and helped the two women and the kid.

“The vehicle was on its side, so everyone was climbing out the side door. One of the women seemed like she was in shock. She was really weak. So I carried her out of the van and to the road. I wanted to get everyone away from the car because I was concerned it was going to catch fire. There were all these fluids leaking from the van.”
Couture says there were six people in the car, and all of them emerged without serious injuries. TMZ has reached out to law enforcement agencies in Mexico to confirm the story.
This is the second intense story we have heard in the last two months about an athlete helping a car crash victim. You can read about the other incident here.
Assuming Couture is telling the truth, the family sounds fortunate that he was there to help. Bravo.
