Lindsey Vonn announced some sad news on Wednesday, just a week after she crashed while skiing in the 2026 Winter Olympics.
Vonn suffered a fractured leg during a crash while competing in the women’s downhill event at Cortina d’Ampezzo, Italy. Keep in mind that on top of breaking her leg, Vonn suffered a torn ACL during a World Cup event not long before then.
As if the injuries weren’t enough, Vonn is dealing with a death. The 41-year-old wrote in a social media post that her dog, Leo, had died on Feb. 9.
“Leo passed away. The day after my crash I said goodbye to by my big boy as I laid in my hospital bed. Been some of the hardest days of my life and still have not begun to process his passing… I will always love you Leo,” Vonn wrote on social media.

Vonn has won three Olympic medals during her skiing career, including a gold medal in the women’s downhill in 2010. She has also won a record eight World Cup season titles.
Vonn has multiple pets, and the loss of her dog, Leo, at a time when she was recovering from surgery, was no doubt difficult to take.
