Michael Phelps is officially off the market.
The 18-time gold medalist swimmer announced on social media early Sunday morning that he and girlfriend Nicole Johnson had gotten engaged.
“She said yes,” Phelps wrote on Twitter and Instagram as the caption for a photo of them together in the snow.
Johnson seemed equally ecstatic, writing on Instagram, “I’m gonna be a Mrs.”

This will be the first marriage for Phelps, who is 29. Johnson, also 29, is a former Miss California USA winner.
The past several months have been tumultuous for Phelps. He was arrested for a second DUI and entered rehab in October. Then he went through a gossip scandal after a woman who says she was born a man claimed she hooked up with the swimmer multiple times. The scandal did not negatively affect Phelps’ relationship, and perhaps it even strengthened it. He began posting more photos of his relationship with Johnson online, and months later he proposed.
