For whatever reason, discussions about the sex lives of Olympic athletes seem to be as popular this year as ones about their training methods. Lolo Jones and her virginity have been the talk of the town for a number of blogs, gossip sites and talk shows over the past two months. Lolo admitted she is a virgin and takes pride in it. Come to find out, she is not the only US athlete in London who is saving herself.
US archer Jennifer Nichols also openly discussed her sex life (or lack thereof) with Us Weekly.
“I saved my first kiss for the man I knew I was going to marry — my fiance,” the 28-year-old told Us Weekly while talking about her fiancee, 25-year-old Chris Hardy. “I made that commitment when I was about 13 years old. I knew that I wanted to save my kiss on top of purity. I felt like a kiss was something very special and I wanted to save that.”
That first kiss, she says, came when she was 27 years old. The two are devout Christians and have been dating since they met at Texas A&M back in 2009.
“We were both in the same political science class,” Nichols said. “I saw him from across the room and I was really attracted to him and then one morning I was coming from my Arabic class and I had a box of donuts and I saw him sitting on a bench so I offered him some donuts.”
Since she is obviously in a serious relationship, we aren’t going to make the same suggestion for her that people have been making for Jones. Even if we did, Lolo seems to think Tim Tebow has a secret girlfriend, otherwise she would have already asked him to go to church.
If the US manages to lead the medal count in London this summer, we can expect to see a lot more virgins competing in future Olympic Games.
