Slovenian Tit Stante has ‘Free Meek Mill’ written on snowboard at Olympics

Public cries for Meek Mill to be set free have been heard across many forums since the rapper was sentenced to two to four years in state prison back in November, and that support has officially extended to the Winter Olympics.

Following one of his halfpipe qualifying runs on Tuesday, Slovenien snowboarder Tit Stante proudly displayed a message on his board that read “#FreeMeekMill.”

Mill, who had been on probation since he was convicted of drug and gun charges back in 2008, was arrested last March at an airport in St. Louis for allegedly assaulting two pedestrians. The charges were dropped, but Mill was also charged with reckless driving of a motorcycle and the judge presiding over his case found that he failed a drug test and violated court-ordered travel restrictions. That led to the prison sentence.

Many felt the sentence was excessive, and there have been questions about the judge’s relationship with Mill since she has been solely responsible for his case for years. It seems safe to say Stante is among those who feel the justice system failed.

You could argue that Israeli skeleton slider AJ Edelman should be able to wear this helmet if a snowboarder can show support for someone with a rap sheet like Mill’s, but that’s not how the Olympics works.
